MIMÍ | Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé | 2014
cabernet sauvignon
WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
We switch back to Wine of Moldova and change the tasting vector to rosé wine theme – there is a new wave of rosé wines released on the marked and we’ve decided to give it a go. The wine that we’ve selected for today’s tasting is Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2014 from Mimí. This wine will be replacing the famous Rosé de Bulboaca, which was a blend by the way.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
Visual
The wine has a pure salmon pink color – bright and transparent – with the rim-color of a clear pearl shade.
Olfactory
The nose is strong and sweet, with no signs of wine faults. The first nose brings very clear notes of sweet berry and fruit jam – strawberry, raspberry, ripe jotsaberry, orange mirabelle, white cherry, fig and sicilian orange. Later on, the nose is delighted with some sweet notes of candied strawberry, raspberry jam and candies mix.
Gustatory
The wine is dry, with just some hints of residual sugar. The alcohol level is quite high, which makes the wine taste a bit austere and aggressive. High acidity and soft tannin makes it taste fruity and zesty, with a good overall balance. The wine is quite refreshing and a little opulent towards the middle of the palate, with a pronounced sharp mouth-feel.
Aftertaste
The wine has a long-minus finish, with a balanced, a bit angular aftertaste – it is not quite astringent but not yet velvety at the same time.
This is definitely a fine Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 87.0 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Please click on the chart icon on the left in order to get to the wine rating page, where you can find all the wines we’ve tasted to date.
Last but not least, we would really want to mention that we do like the color spectrum of this wine. It is quite different from the vast majority of rosé wines of Moldova, it’s more like a classic Provence rosé wine – pale salmon pink. Another aspect of this wine that made us nod in approval was it’s aroma profile – we would describe it as a bottled candy festival – delicious.
