WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
We switch back to Wine of Moldova and straight to the rosé wine theme – that delicious, light and refreshing wine style that is growing in popularity with each passing season. The rosé season of this summer started with some very interesting wines, quite different between them, but that’s a story for another time. The wine that we’ve selected for today’s review is Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2014 from F’autor.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
Visual
The wine has a pure salmon color – bright and transparent – with the rim-color of a pale pearl shade.
Olfactory
The nose is strong and delicious, with no signs of wine faults. The first nose brings nuanced notes of sweet berry fruits: strawberry, raspberry, red apple, jotsaberry, red plum and a light scent of some red bell pepper. The second nose is tight and brings some sweet notes of raspberry jam and candied wolfberry.
Gustatory
The wine is dry, with just some hints of residual sugar. It has moderate alcohol level, high acidity and medium tannin, which makes this wine taste fruity, delicious and fresh. The overall balance is good, the wine feels rich, velvety and very light – this is an elegant and easy to drink rosé wine – quite round and friendly.
Aftertaste
The wine has a long finish with a velvety aftertaste, that brings back memories of early summer days, when the very first strawberries ripens in the backyard.
This is definitely a fine Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 89.5 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Last but not least, this wine has been already awarded a bronze medal for the 2014 vintage and a commended accolade for the 2013 vintage by Decanter World Wine Awards – the leading wine-tasting competition of the world. It is no small feat, if you ask us – only a couple of rosé wines from Moldova managed to get a bronze medal at DWWA. Also to be mentioned here is the fact that this wine has a twin, and if this one is made of 100% cabernet sauvignon grapes, its kin is made of 100% merlot grapes and is no less famous – but that’s a different story, that we’ve already covered before. Stay tuned – more wine reviews are coming soon.
