WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
We continue to review Wine of Moldova and we’re going to try some white wine blend tonight. The wine that we’ve selected this time is both, appealing and genuine, as its blending formula is simple as one-two and, as weird as it may sound, there is no other wine in Moldova made of only sauvignon blanc and chardonnay grape varieties. Without further ado we present you the wine we’ve decided to review tonight – Sauvignon-Chardonnay 2012 from Berhord-Vin.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
The wine has a bright topaz-yellow color, with some brilliant-clear yellowish shades towards the rim of the glass.
The nose is rich, with no signs of wine faults. The first nose is quite insistent, with nuanced citrus and sweet fruits notes: yellow pear, lemon, yellow apple, gooseberry, quince, seabuckthorn, green olive, straw, grapefruit, pineapple and some hints of butter.
The wine is medium-dry, with some hints of residual sugar. It has moderate alcohol level, high acidity and medium tannin, which makes the wine taste fruity, smooth and silky – it feels creamy and zesty at the same time. The wine has a fair overall balance – this is a round, lean and well structured wine, with a quite complex and firm body.
The wine has a medium finish and a balanced aftertaste – crisp and oily but quite refined overall.
This is definitely a great Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 90.0 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Conclusion: this wine is in its prime, fruit-forward and crisp, with some strong citrus accents. This is not a wine to be kept in the cellar any longer, as it reached its apogee – ‘now’ is the right time to uncork it. We would also like to highlight that fact, that this wine has been awarded a commended award by International Wine Challenge – one of the leading wine tasting competitions in the world of wine, while the 2011 vintage of this wine has been awarded a commended accolade by Decanter World Wine Awards – the world’s most prestigious wine tasting competition. This is a great wine indeed, a wine that will no longer be produced, so if you want to try one, it is the right time to do it, if you’ll manage to find one.
