We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Tonight we are going to review a single-varietal cabernet sauvignon wine – the world’s most popular grape variety and the noblest among reds – Prestige Cabernet-Sauvignon 2017 by Cricova. Cabernet Sauvignon is grown all over the world in a wide range of climates and regions and it usually has high tannins and high acidity, thus it can produce outstanding quality wines that can mature and develop for many years in the bottle. This particular wine has been aged oak barrels and is part of Cricova’s Prestige wine line. That said, without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

Verdict: this is fine example of a cabernet sauvignon wine that is still on the rise – supple, ripe and expressive – a wine that requires a couple more years of bottle ageing. It tastes extracted, fruit forward and lean. This is a wine that lacks a bit of finesse and elegance on the palate, as it feels round, seedy and just a bit opulent. The wine is nicely structured, with mouth-watering acidity and nuanced oak-infused spiciness. It has fine-grained tannins, medium complexity and a seedy-tart, slightly bitter accent on the mouthfeel, with just a touch of alcoholic warmth showing through. Nice.
