We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Today we are going to review a rosé wine from the Dealurile Munteniei wine region in Muntenia – a wine we were so eager to try for a very long time – Cuvée Sissi 2020 by SERVE. This is a single-varietal pinot noir rosé wine, made by the ‘saignee method‘, when the juice of the red grapes is strained from its skins before it becomes too dark, therefore the winemaker has to remove the red grape skins (the source of the red pigment) when the wine reaches the desired color depth. The trap here lies in the character of the resulting rosé wine, as the focus on color alone might compromise the taste and flavour of the resulting wine. That said and without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

96x96This is definitely a great wine of Romania and, with a total of 92.0 points scored, this wine is right there, among the best wines we’ve rated so far. Verdict: this is a fantastic rosé wine that is right there at the summit of its prime form: refreshingly crisp, fruity and extremely appealing, with mouth-watering acidity and a touch of alcoholic warmth on the mouthfeel. We would recommend to drink this wine today rather than tomorrow, as long as it’s still young and beautiful to enjoy it at its finest. The wine feels lean and supple on the palate, with a well structured body and a plethora of ripe red & berry fruits on the nose. All in all, this is one of the best rosé wines we’ve tasted so far – amazingly refreshing (mostly due to its crisp acidity) and extremely appealing – a real crowd-pleaser.
