We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

The wine we are going to review today has struck the market incognito but is slowly becoming a local hit – Endemic Blend 2019 by Divus Winery. This wine is produced in a limited edition of 2800 bottles and is a blend of two indigenous grape varieties: feteasca neagra (40%), which forms the main body and structure of the wine and rara neagra (60%), which is responsible for up-front richness, those rustic-delicate hints of local terroir and a more round, lusher finish. Wine blending is part science and part art, which takes years to master, as the winemakers has to use a combination of technical skills, laboratory analysis and wine tasting in order to achieve the desired results. That said and without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

96x96This is definitely a fine wine of Moldova and, with a total of 91.6 points scored, this wine is right there, among the best wines we’ve rated so far. Check our complete database on the wine rating page, where you can find all the wines that we have tasted and reviewed or go to the about us page and find out more about our exquisite rating system.

Verdict: this is a very hot and quite seedy wine that opens up with an appealing mixture of ripe red fruits and leathery-irony notes in the foreground, supported by a delicate spiciness in the background, and a layer of earthy hints in between. The wine feels flat, supple and lean, with elevated acidity, fine-grained tannins and an overwhelming touch of alcoholic warmth showing through on the mouthfeel. All in all, this is a plump, opulent and rustic wine that has already reached the peak of its form and judging by the wine’s structure, we would recommend to drink it sooner rather than later, as we firmly believe that it is always better to drink a wine a year too soon than a day too late. Cheers!
