Today we are are going to review a single-varietal mustoasa de maderat wine from the relatively cool Minis-Maderat region of TransylvaniaMustoasa de Maderat Editie Limitata 2021 by MaxiMarc Winery. Mustoasa de Maderat grape variety originated in the Maderat village and is cultivated mostly in the Minis-Maderat region of Transylvania. There are several controversies over the origins of this grape variety, as in some sources it is said that mustoasa de maderat is the exactly same variety as the hungarian lampor feher or that it originates from that particular grape variety. What we know is that its parentage are unknown and that mustoasa de maderat is known also as lampor fehérlampar, lampartner, lampau, mustos, mustosfehér and stafttraube. It must not be confused with frâncușă (mustoasă de moldova) or Juhfark (mustafer), despite their morphological similarities. That said and without further ado, let’s move on straight to our tasting results.

Pairing: Based on the wine’s refreshing crispness and green fruits profile, consider pairing it alongside a fresh seafood salad, where the wine’s citrusy notes and crisp aftertaste will harmonize with the delicate flavors of the seafood. In the same key, the wine’s lean and herbal character will provide a refreshing contrast to the salad, enhancing the overall dining experience. This pairing allows the wine’s lively character to shine while providing a delightful culinary journey that celebrates the best of both worlds. Cheers!
