WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
We are tasting Wine of Moldova once again and because there are holidays around the corner, we’ve decided to try some more rosé wine, simply because it’s yummy. This time we are reviewing a wine that is both new and intriguing – Pinot-Merlot Rosé 2012 from Berhord-Vin-Molda. This is a newcomer on the market, but what a better way to come out, other than with a new concept – you will not find any other pinot noir and merlot blended rosé wine in Moldova.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
The wine has an eye-pleasing, bright salmon pink color, with the rim-color of a pale pearl pink.
The nose is strong with no signs of wine faults. The first nose is delightful with notes of sour fruits mixed with sweet notes of fruit jam – strawberry jam and wolfberry, raspberry and mirabelle, mandarin orange and red bell pepper – all of them exploding into a bitter-sweet firework.
The wine is dry with no hints of residual sugar, medium alcohol and high to strong acidity. But even if it tastes tart, it’s the bitterness that dominates the palate, although the tannin level is soft. The overall balance is good and the wine leaves quite a memorable impression in the end.
The wine has long finish with a velvety aftertaste and along with it’s zesty and bitter notes, this wine is nothing less than a refreshing delight.
This is definitely a fine Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 89.9 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Last but not least, this wine was already awarded a gold medal by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles – one of the top 5 world’s most appreciated wine-tasting competitions – a fact that should not be underestimated. In our humble opinion this is definitely one of the best rosé wines we’ve tasted – with a refreshing bittersweet accent that can be compared to crème de la crème of all rosé wines – the ones from Provence.
