WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
We switch our attention back to Wine of Moldova towards the white wine theme. The wine that we’ve selected for the review tonight is fresh and unique. This is the only wine in Moldova made of albariño grape variety and it is of the latest available vintage, launched on the market just a couple of weeks ago, so we’ve decided to give it a go as long as it is still young and
beautiful fresh – Albariño 2015 from F’autor.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
The wine has a pure, amethyst-green color, with the rim-color of a tea-green shade.
The nose is strong and insistent, with no signs of wine faults. The first nose is floral and exotic, with nuanced citrus and sweet fruits notes: kiwi, green pear, lime, fresh cut green grass, gooseberry, white grapefruit, pineapple, nectarine and a some nuanced sweet notes of candied green pear. The final is mesmerizing, with notes of hazelnut and wildflowers – this wine’s aroma profile is to be remembered.
The wine is dry, with no hints of residual sugar. It has high alcohol level, high acidity and dry tannin, which makes it taste bitter-crisp, creamy, fresh and elegant. The wine has a fair overall balance, as it has a nuanced citrus profile on the palate, smooth and silky texture and a velvety-rich body. This wine will drift you away, towards exotic hot summer places like Costa Blanca or Rias Baixas.
The wine has a medium-plus finish and a balanced and hot aftertaste, tropical and fresh at the same time.
This is definitely a great Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 90.0 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Also, there’s a reason to be proud of, as this wine was well appreciated on the international scene – it has been awarded a bronze medal by Decanter World Wine Awards and another bronze medal by International Wine Challenge – two of the most influential wine tasting competition in the world of wine. This is a great achievement indeed, as Wine of Moldova is growing in popularity with each passing season, and there’s a reason why.
