If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
Sticking to the Wine of Moldova trend and in line with the fast growing trend for late harvest wines, we’ve decided that the time has come for a very special wine – Cabernet-Sauvignon Late Harvest 2013 from Et Cetera. It is special for two reasons: this is a late harvest wine, that is vinified as a dessert wine and, at the same time, this is a wine that did not yet hit the shelves for unknown yet reasons.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
The wine has a clear copper color, with the rim color of a fading orange shade, which is a hint that the wine is not a young one anymore.
The nose is rich and nuanced, with no signs of wine faults. The first nose is clear and insistent, with notes of ripe sweet fruits, jam and honey: jammy jostaberry, mulberry jam, ripe red currant, quince jam, overripe cranberry, strawberry jam and some delicate hints of bitter herbs.
The wine is sweet, with quite some residual sugar, which turns the wine into a herbal syrup. It has moderate alcohol level, moderate acidity and medium tannin, which makes the wine taste jammy, delicious and oily. It has a fair balance between all these elements, turning it into a sweet and herbaceous balsam. The wine has a smooth and lean body with a nuanced, silky accent and a bittersweet texture. This is a delicious, rich and concentrated summer elixir.
The wine has a medium finish and a balanced aftertaste – it feels thick and extracted on the palate.
This is definitely a fine Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 88.5 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Last but not least, we were quite impressed by this wine – it’s an amazing dessert wine that can be served as an aperitif or as a dessert drink after the main meal, and it pairs quite well with any jam-topped ice-cream. This is a wine that will leave no prisoners, you either love it or hate it – our appreciation is definitely on the love side. We would also like to highlight that this is a classic late harvest wine – the grapes are hand harvested late into the harvest season, when the berries are starting to raisinate, which decreases the water level, leading to a more sugar-concentrated grape juice. It’s delicious.
