WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
Tonight we are going to review another rosé wine, as we firmly believe that it’s the perfect wine style to help us embrace those chilly-windy nights with a subtle smile – Cabernet Sauvignon · Merlot 2015 from Château Vartely. This wine is part of the famous ‘Individo‘ wine series and is a rosé wine that has already caught attentions of the wine geeks from around the world, but more on that a bit latter.
Let’s take a deeper look at the tasting notes and the wine’s review statistics:
Pastel peach-orange color with shades of salmon-pink towards the rim.
The nose is strong, filled mostly with sweet fruit: nectarine, sweet cherry, underripe strawberry, mandarin orange, white cherry, red grapefruit, red bell pepper, red mulberry and some subtle hints of crème brûlée.
The wine is medium-dry, with moderate alcohol level, high acidity and medium tannin. It tastes zesty, fresh and delicious, with a mesmerizing fruit-forward profile. The wine has a fair overall balance, as this is a round, lean and silky rosé wine, with overwhelming crispness.
The wine has a medium finish and a balanced, a bit astringent aftertaste.
This is definitely a fine Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 89.9 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Conclusion: this is a rosé wine in its prime, just perfect to drink now – it is quite close to a classic Provence style rosé and we would strongly recommend to pair it with lobster bisque or some crab cakes, as the wine’s acidity will be nicely countered by the sweetness of the meat. What we would also like to mention, is that this wine was highly appreciated on the international scene with a bronze medal by Decanter World Wine Awards and a silver medal by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles – not bad for a Wine of Moldova, not bad at all.
