WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
Tonight we are going to review a wine that is neither new nor old, as it was released on the market last summer, yet it is still relatively unnoticed by the wine lovers – *310 Altitudine Traminer – Riesling 2016 from F’autor Winery. It is a white wine blend, made of 2 varieties: gewurztraminer, which is responsible for the flavour, most notably the rose petals, and riesling, which adds body, structure and complexity to the final blend. This wine is also part of the *310 Altitudine wine series that consists mainly of fresh, appealing and easy to drink wines that can be easily understood without too much fuss. That said, let’s find out just how good this wine is. On to the tasting!

Take a look at the tasting notes bellow and our detailed assessment of the wine:
Visual
Straw yellow color with topaz green hues towards the rim of the glass.
Olfactory
The nose is strong, filled mostly with sweet fruits and floral flavours: persimmon, pineapple, acacia flower, lemon, white pear, white apple, lily, white mulberry, cherry blossom, mango, straw grass, hay and some nuanced notes of raisins.
Gustatory
The wine is dry, with strong alcohol level, high acidity and rough tannin. It tastes green, austere and sharp, a bit woody and quite off balance. The wine has a nuanced floral and fruity accent and it feels rough, unripe and angular, quite aromatic and young, with fir overall balance.
Aftertaste
It has a medium finish and a balanced, a bit sharp and a bit austere aftertaste.

This is definitely a fine Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 89.4 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Please click on the chart icon on the left in order to get to the wine rating page, where you can find all the wines we’ve tasted to date.
Conclusion: this is definitely a wine that has not yet reached its prime form – ready to drink now and not really worth the effort of bottle ageing, as it is always better to drink a wine a year too soon than a day too late. In order to amplify its aromatics, we would recommend to pair this wine with fat-rich dishes or cream-cheese based snacks, like for example an oven roasted garlic and butter rainbow trout or some creamy philadelphia cheese bruschetta, as the creaminess in the dish will counter balance those sharp edges of the wine. It’s all about the balance. Enjoy!
