We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Tonight we are going to review another rosé wine that is relatively new on the local market – Individo Blanc de Noir Rara Neagra 2019 by Château Vartely. This is a single-varietal rosé wine, made of rara neagra grapes, which is quite an enigma – a variety that still has something to reveal. Rosé wine is usually made using the saignee method, when the juice of a soon-to-be red wine is strained from its skins before it becomes too dark and too extracted, thus the winemaker has to remove the red grape skins (the source of the red pigment) when the wine reaches the perfect color. The trap here lies in the character of the resulting rosé wine, as the focus on color alone might compromise the taste and flavour of the resulting wine. That said, without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

Verdict: this is a very fresh, lean and opulent rosé wine which a light body and crisp acidity, a wine that is right there, at the summit of its peak form. It might lack some character and structure, with several under-developed aromatics (the leafy-algae ones), yet it does feel nicely balanced, smooth and round – a quite delicate yet faur rosé wine. This wine should be enjoyed today or as soon as possible, because it is not meant for bottle ageing – it is definitely a drink now type of wine, yet one that has individuality. Cheers.
