We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Today we are going to review a rosé wine from the Dealurile Munteniei vineyards in southern Romania – a wine we were so eager to try for a very long time – Soare Rose 2020 by Domaine Vinarte. What makes this wine different from its peers is its blending formula, as this rosé wine is a blend of two cabernets with a 50/50 proportion: cabernet franc & cabernet sauvignon and is rightfully regarded as one of the best rosé wines from Romania. Both cabernet grapes are sourced from the Samburesti – Bolovanu vineyards in western Muntenia, while the wine’s blending formula is a statement that despite its color, this wine is a serious contender at any event. That said, without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

96x96This is definitely a great wine of Romania and, with a total of 93.0 points scored, this wine is right there, among the best wines we’ve rated so far. Verdict: this is a very fine rosé wine that is right there, at the summit of its prime form: refreshingly crisp, fruity and extremely appealing, with a nuanced seedy accent on the mouthfeel. It has mouth-watering acidity, well integrated alcohol and a seedy-crisp finale. It feels quite firm for a rosé wine and it has a very well balanced structure on the palate. On the nose the wine delivers ripe berry fruits in the foreground, supported by a floral-herbaceous mixture of aromas in the background. We would recommend to drink this wine today rather than tomorrow, as long as it’s still young and beautiful to enjoy it at its finest.
