We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Today we are going to review a very special wine that comes from the famous Dealu Mare region in Muntenia and named after Paul Alecsandru, Sissi’s brother – Cuvée Pacs 2020 by SERVE. This wine is a blend of four grape varieties: 40% pinot noir (vinified by the ‘Blanc de Noir‘ technique), 30% chardonnay, 25% feteasca alba and 5% tamaioasa romaneasca, where pinot noir and chardonnay forms the main body and structure, feteasca alba rounds up and smoothens the final blend, while tamaioasa romaneasca adds up-front richness and brings floral notes to the foreground. This wine is produced in a relatively limited edition of only 7245 bottles and it is not meant for ageing, it is intended to be consumed fresh, while its blending formula is a statement that the wine is designed to conquer hearts. That said and without further ado, let’s move on straight to our tasting results.

96x96This is definitely a fine wine of Romania and with a total of 91.9 points scored, this wine is right there, among the best wines we’ve rated so far. Check our complete database on the wine rating page, where you can find all the wines that we have tasted and reviewed or go to the about us page and find out more about our exquisite rating system.

Verdict: this is a fine and very refreshing wine blend: crisp, zesty and appealing – one that is right there, at the peak of its form. It feels medium in body, with slightly flabby acidity, some alcoholic warmth on the mouthfeel and a very expressive, citrusy-herbaceous accent on the nose. It tastes a bit angular and bitter-seedy on the palate, while on the nose the wine delivers ripe green and citrus fruits in the foreground, with a very nuanced herbaceous background. This is a wine that lacks a bit of structure and finesse on the palate (mostly due to flabby acidity and green aftertaste). Our recommendation is to drink this wine today, as long as it’s still young and beautiful, in order to enjoy it at its finest. Cheers!
