We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Today we are going to review a remarkable wine blend that comes from the little known Banu Maracine vineyards, situated in the Dealurile Olteniei region – Endorphine 2018 by 7ARTS Winery. This wine is a blend of three grape varieties: feteasca neagra (60%), merlot (30%) and syrah (10%), where feteasca neagra forms the wine’s main body and adds structure, merlot rounds up and smoothens the final blend, while syrah is responsible for color depth and brings more black fruits and spicy notes to the foreground. The winery’s first wine was released on the market in the 7th year after the whole vineyard’s surface was replanted in 2009, hence it’s name – 7ARTS. At 7ARTS all the red wines are aged exclusively in romanian oak, with this particular wine aged for 12 months in new, romanian oak barriques. That said and without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

96x96This is definitely a fine wine of Romania and, with a total of 92.9 points scored, this wine is right there, among the best wines we’ve rated so far. Verdict: this is a quite round, supple and plump wine blend, with a nuanced fruity-earthy accent on the palate. It is still developing, hence we would recommend to give it another 2 or 3 more years of bottle ageing, in order to allow it to get closer to its potential. On the nose the wine brings a mixture of ripe and overripe red and black fruits in the foreground, followed by a very nuanced earthy background and an appealing, spicy-oaky layer in between the two. On the palate the wine delivers exuberant acidity, seedy-green tannins and a touch of alcoholic warmth that is showing through on the mouthfeel, which nicely evolves into a seedy-crisp finale. All in all, this is a quite voluptuous, velvety and delicate wine that delivers savoriness with hints of local terroir on the nose and a very fine delicateness on the palate. In order to enhance the wine’s characteristics, we would recommend to pair it with delicate and naturally scented meats, like for example Tournedos Rossini or a peppercorn fillet mignon. Enjoy!
