We will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss our reviews. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations.

Today we are also going to review a quite intriguing wine that has been launched on the market relatively recently – 404 by Famber Winery. This wine is a blend of three grape varieties: cabernet sauvignon, that forms the wine’s main body and structure, merlot, which delivers a more refined mid-palate and provides a softer texture on the mouthfeel, and saperavi, responsible for up-front richness, color depth and a lusher finish. The wine is an homage to all those related to the IT sector, and its name is a tribute to the famous Error 404. The wine label hides a secret message that will only be revealed when a strong source of heat is applied upon – we’ll let you discover this easter egg by yourself – have fun. That said and without further ado, let’s take a look at the wine tasting results.

96x96This is definitely a fine wine of Moldova and, with a total of 91.9 points scored, this wine is right there, among the best wines we’ve rated so far. Verdict: this is a rich, expressive and slightly tart wine blend, with a nuanced fruity-forward profile and a crisp palate. The wine feels very youthful, therefore we would recommend to age it for 2 or 3 more years, so that it will get enough time to round up and settle down a bit, as in its current state the wine tastes slightly rough and feels unbalanced on the palate. On the nose it displays a mixture of overripe red & black fruits in the foreground, followed by a spicy-oaky background and a subtle dusty layer in between. On the palate the wine delivers overwhelming acidity, ripe tannins and a touch of alcoholic warmth that is showing through on the mouthfeel, which evolves into a crisp & tart aftertaste. We would recommend to pair it with red meats that are rich in natural fattiness, like for example a cherry-glazed filet mignon, so that all those acids and tannins in the wine could cut through those soft and fat textures of the meat, thus complementing the wine’s angularity with the softness of the dish. The cherry ingredient in the dish is crucial, as it will enhance the nuanced fruity character of the wine to a completely new level. try it out – it’s pure magic!
