WineStatistics will be evaluating wines in no particular order on no particular schedule. Just stay tuned and you will never miss one. If the wine is tasted more than once, the rating table will be updated so as to reflect all the new impressions and observations. The logic is simple – the more we taste, the more we learn.
Tonight we are going to review a wine, that is quite different compared to other white wines, as it is a blend made of viognier and chardonnay grapes – Aeroplane Affinité 2015 from Et Cetera. This wine is part of the Aeroplane series, that is made of fresh and easy-to-drink wines, perfect for any instant meals or wine parties. But what makes this particular wine special is the viognier variety, one that is unexplored here in Moldova and, in fact, this is the only local wine made of viognier grapes. And on that topic, let’s move on to the tasting and find out just how good this wine is.

Take a look at the tasting notes below and our detailed assessment of the wine:
Visual
Straw yellow color with shades of pale yellow towards the rim of the glass.
Olfactory
The nose is strong, filled mostly with citrus fruits: lemon, pear candy, lime, mirabelle, kiwi, gooseberry, apricot, green apple, white pear, hay, pineapple and some nuanced hints of moist oakwood.
Gustatory
The wine is medium-dry, with moderate alcohol level, high acidity and smooth tannin. It feels fresh, tart and light with a nuanced citrusy accent. This is a refreshing, zesty and mellow wine, with a fair overall balance.
Aftertaste
It has a medium-plus finish and a balanced, crispy-acrid aftertaste.

This is definitely a great Wine of Moldova and the overall rating says the same, with 90.0 points scored it is right there, among the best wines we’ve tasted so far. Please click on the chart icon on the left in order to get to the wine rating page, where you can find all the wines we’ve tasted to date.
Conclusion: this is a fine wine in its prime form, as no more bottle ageing is required. It may be a bit sharp at the moment, with quite angular acidity, but still, we recommend to drink it now, as long it’s still young and beautiful. Enhance it’s aromatics by pairing this wine with creamy sauce-based dishes, like for example shellfish spaghetti or quattro formaggi pasta. Enjoy!
